Genesis P-Orridge

Genesis P-Orridge (1950-2020) was a British musician, artist, and occultist, best known for their work in the industrial music genre. As a founding member of the pioneering band Throbbing Gristle (1975-1981), P-Orridge was instrumental in shaping the sound of industrial music, characterized by its experimental and avant-garde approach, as well as its incorporation of performance art. Notable works include Throbbing Gristle's albums like *Second Annual Report* (1977) and *D.O.A: The Third and Final Report* (1978), which pushed boundaries in sound and thematic content. P-Orridge later formed the band Psychic TV, which further explored themes of occultism and counterculture, producing influential albums like *Force the Hand of Chance* (1982). P-Orridge's impact on music extends beyond their own work; they helped define the industrial genre and influenced a diverse array of artists across various genres, including noise, electronic, and alternative music. Their exploration of identity and gender, particularly through the concept of "pandrogyny," also left a mark on contemporary art and performance, making P-Orridge a significant figure in both music and cultural discourse.
