Jerry Dammers

Jerry Dammers is an English musician, best known as the founder and keyboardist of the ska band The Specials, formed in 1977. He played a pivotal role in the 2 Tone ska revival movement, which fused traditional Jamaican ska with punk rock, influencing a generation of musicians and promoting multiculturalism in the UK. Dammers is particularly noted for his innovative songwriting and production, contributing to The Specials' self-titled debut album (1979) and the influential "Ghost Town" (1981), which addressed social issues and resonated with the economic climate of the time. His work extended beyond The Specials; he founded the band Fun Boy Three and later established the 2 Tone record label, which became a platform for various artists within the genre.
