Jerry Weiss

Jerry Weiss, an American musician, is best known as a founding member of the rock band *The Dells*, formed in the 1950s. The Dells, originating from Chicago, were pivotal in the development of R&B and soul music, blending gospel influences with doo-wop and later, funk. Weiss served as a vocalist and contributed to the band's distinctive sound. The Dells achieved significant success with notable tracks such as "Oh, What a Night" (1956) and "Stay in My Corner" (1968), the latter being a classic example of their smooth harmonies and emotional delivery. They were one of the first African American groups to achieve mainstream success, paving the way for other artists in the genre. Weiss's impact extended beyond The Dells, as he influenced the evolution of soul music and the transition into disco in the 1970s. The band's remarkable longevity and ability to adapt to changing musical landscapes solidified their legacy.
