Juan Antonio Orrego-Salas

Juan Antonio Orrego-Salas (b. 1910, Santiago, Chile - d. 2019) was a prominent Chilean composer and conductor known for his contributions to classical music, particularly in the realms of orchestral and chamber music. Orrego-Salas studied in Chile and later in the United States, where he became influenced by the American avant-garde. His notable works include orchestral compositions such as "Sinfonía No. 2" and "Concerto for Piano and Orchestra," as well as chamber pieces like "Cuarteto de Cuerdas" and "Tres Piezas para Violonchelo y Piano." He also composed operas, with "La Pérgola" being a significant example.
