Mark St. John

Mark St. John (born Mark Edward Norton on July 7, 1956 – April 5, 2021) was an American guitarist best known for his work with the rock band Kiss. He joined Kiss in 1984, contributing to the band's album "Animalize" and the subsequent tours. St. John's guitar work is characterized by his technical proficiency and unique style, blending elements of hard rock and heavy metal. Notable works include his contributions to Kiss's 1984 album "Animalize," which featured popular tracks like "I Love It Loud," as well as his participation in the band's live performances during the mid-1980s. After leaving Kiss, he formed the band White Tiger and recorded the album "White Tiger" (1986). St. John's impact on music is primarily associated with his brief but influential role in the heavy metal scene, particularly during the 1980s. His work with Kiss helped shape the sound of the band during a transitional period and contributed to the resurgence of glam metal. Although not as widely recognized as some of his contemporaries, his virtuosic guitar skills and contributions to the genre have left a lasting impression among fans and musicians alike.
