Sigur Rós
Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band formed in 1994 in Reykjavík. The band consists of Jónsi Birgisson (lead vocals, guitar), Georg Hólm (bass), and Orri Páll Dýrason (drums), with former member Kjartan Sveinsson contributing keyboards and piano until 2013. Their music is characterized by ethereal soundscapes, soaring melodies, and the use of Icelandic and "Hopelandic," a made-up language. Notable works include their critically acclaimed albums "Ágætis byrjun" (1999), "()" (2002), and "Takk..." (2005), which feature lush instrumentation and emotional depth. The song "Sæglópur" from "Takk..." and the haunting "Svefn-g-englar" from "Ágætis byrjun" are particularly recognized for their impact.
