Sodom

Sodom is a German thrash metal band formed in 1981 in Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia. They are one of the pioneering bands of the German thrash metal scene, alongside Kreator and Destruction. Sodom's music is characterized by aggressive guitar riffs, fast tempos, and socially and politically charged lyrics. Notable works include their seminal albums "Obsessed by Cruelty" (1986), "Persecution Mania" (1987), and "Agent Orange" (1989), the latter of which is often cited as a classic in the genre. The band’s 1995 album "Get What You Deserve" marked a significant return to form, showcasing their evolution while maintaining their thrash roots. Sodom's impact on music is profound, influencing countless bands within the thrash and extreme metal genres. Their raw sound and thematic content laid the groundwork for future metal movements, including black metal and death metal.
