The Darkness

The Darkness is a British rock band formed in 2000 in Lowestoft, Suffolk. The band consists of lead vocalist Justin Hawkins, his brother Dan Hawkins on guitar, bassist Frankie Poullain, and drummer Rufus Taylor. They are known for their flamboyant style and a sound that blends elements of glam rock, hard rock, and heavy metal, heavily influenced by 1970s acts like Queen and Aerosmith. Their debut album, "Permission to Land" (2003), achieved critical and commercial success, featuring hit singles such as "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" and "Get Your Hands Off My Woman." The album won the Brit Award for Best British Group and helped revive interest in glam rock. The Darkness faced a hiatus in the mid-2000s but reformed in 2011, continuing to release new music, including "Hot Cakes" (2012) and "Pinewood Smile" (2017). Their energetic performances and distinctive sound have garnered a dedicated fanbase and influence on newer rock bands.
