Young Dolph, born Adolph Thornton Jr. on July 27, 1985, was an American rapper known for his contributions to the hip-hop genre, particularly within the subgenre of Southern hip-hop. Emerging from Memphis, Tennessee, he gained prominence in the mid-2010s with his distinctive voice and independent approach to music. Dolph's notable works include his debut studio album, "King of Memphis" (2016), which received critical acclaim and featured the hit single "Get Paid." He continued to release successful projects, such as "Bulletproof" (2017) and "Rich Slave" (2020), the latter debuting at number 49 on the Billboard 200. His collaborations with artists like Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, and Megan Thee Stallion further solidified his position in the industry. Young Dolph was recognized for his entrepreneurial spirit, founding his own label, Paper Route Empire, which fostered other talents. His music often reflected themes of resilience and success, resonating with fans and influencing a new wave of independent artists. Tragically, Dolph was shot and killed on November 17, 2021, but his legacy continues through his impactful discography and influence on the Memphis rap scene.
