AKA, born Kiernan Jarryd Forbes on January 28, 1988, was a prominent South African rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He was influential in the hip-hop genre, blending elements of pop and African music to create a distinctive sound. AKA rose to fame with his debut album, "Altar Ego," released in 2011, which featured hits like "Victory Lap" and "I Want It All." His subsequent albums, including "Levels" (2014) and "Touch My Blood" (2018), solidified his status in the South African music scene. Notable works include the chart-topping singles "Fela in Versace," "The World Is Yours," and his collaborations with other artists, which showcased his versatility and ability to cross genres. AKA was known for his sharp lyrical content and impactful storytelling, often addressing social issues and personal experiences.
