Delain

Delain is a Dutch symphonic metal band formed in 2002 by former Within Temptation keyboardist Martijn Westerholt. Their music blends elements of symphonic metal, gothic metal, and alternative rock, characterized by powerful female vocals, orchestral arrangements, and melodic instrumentation. The band's sound is often compared to that of other symphonic metal acts, but they have carved out a distinct identity with a more accessible and melodic approach. Delain's debut album, *Lucidity* (2006), received critical acclaim and featured collaborations with notable artists like Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation. Their follow-up albums, including *April Rain* (2009), *We Are the Others* (2012), and *Moonbathers* (2016), solidified their presence in the metal scene, showcasing their evolving sound and strong songwriting. The band is known for their energetic live performances and has built a dedicated fan base. In 2021, Delain announced a new lineup and continued to release music, including *Dark Waters* (2022).
